Founder & Head Coach

Born in the Lineup

Born and raised in the coastal village of Ekas Buana, Muhammad Jupri grew up with the Indian Ocean as his backyard. Long before the roads were paved and the international surf camps moved in, Jupri was already riding the local breaks on borrowed, broken boards.

Surfing wasn't just a sport for Jupri; it was a way of life and a connection to nature. Over the years, he watched his quiet village slowly gain recognition on the global surf map. However, he noticed a troubling trend: many new surf schools were highly commercialized, treating students like numbers on a spreadsheet and ignoring the local culture.

Founded in 2026, Melody Surf Ekas was born out of a desire to offer a truly authentic, locally-run surf experience. Jupri wanted to build a bridge between travelers and the local Sasak community.

"I wanted to create a place where people arrive as guests but leave as friends. Surfing is about connection—with the ocean, with yourself, and with the people around you. That's the Melody Surf way."

Our Philosophy

The principles that guide every lesson, every trip, and every interaction.

Safety First, Always

The ocean is powerful. We never compromise on safety. We use soft-top boards for beginners, teach extensive ocean awareness, and maintain strict student-to-instructor ratios.

Passion Over Profit

We cap our daily bookings to ensure quality. We'd rather give 5 people the best day of their lives than give 20 people a mediocre experience.

Community Driven

We are 100% locally owned. When you surf with us, your money goes directly into the local Ekas economy, supporting families and community projects.

Why Ekas, Lombok?

Forget the traffic jams of Canggu and the crowded lineups of Uluwatu. Ekas is what Bali was 30 years ago.

01. The Uncrowded Frontier

While spots like Bali and Kuta Lombok have become incredibly crowded, Ekas remains a hidden gem. You can still find empty peaks, share waves with just a handful of friends, and actually hear the ocean instead of beach clubs.

02. Consistent Swells

Ekas Bay acts as a massive magnet for Indian Ocean swells. Whether it's the dry season (trade winds) or the wet season, the unique geography of the bay means there is almost always a wave breaking somewhere.

03. Two Distinct Breaks

Ekas Inside offers long, mellow walls perfect for beginners and longboarders. A short boat ride away, Ekas Outside is a powerful, barreling wave that will test the skills of advanced surfers. One bay, infinite possibilities.

Protecting Our Playground

We are deeply committed to preserving the natural beauty of Ekas Bay. We organize weekly beach clean-ups, educate our students on reef-safe practices, and actively campaign against single-use plastics in our village. When you surf with Melody Surf, you are supporting sustainable tourism in Lombok.
